Mushfiqur regains form to lead Bangladesh A to win

DHAKA, Sept 28, 2021 (BSS)-Mushfiqur Rahim's goal to regain his form

became successful as he led Bangladesh A to a six-wicket win over High
Performance (HP) team with a brilliant 70 not out at the Sylhet International
Cricket Stadium today.

The senior batsman was going through a bad patch as he had recently scored
just 39 runs in the five-match T20 International series against New Zealand
with two ducks.

As the country's most dependable batsmen's form was worrying, he willingly
made him available for the Bangladesh A team in their three-match one-day
series against High Performance (HP) team to regain his form ahead of the
Twenty20 World Cup in Oman and United Arab Emirates. Even though the format
is different, making some runs will give him the confidence, the experts said
earlier.

And Mushfiqur lived up to the expectation in impeccable way.

After being sent to bat first, HP team was bowled out for 247 in 48.5
overs, which Bangladesh A gunned down, with 252-4 in 47.5 overs.

Mushfiqur Rahim struck six fours and one six in his unbeaten 70 for which
he played 91 balls. He was ably supported by Imrul Kayes who made 60 off 81.

Openers Mominul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto earlier gave the side a
flying start with the latter hitting 27 off just 18 with three fours and two
sixes. Mominul Haque added 29.

Kayes and Mushfiqur then combined for a 59-run partnership for the third
wicket stand before the former was dismissed. Mushfiqur then led the side to
the victory and on the way he got the support from Mosaddek Hossain (24) and
Mohammad Mithun (28 not out).

Earlier Mosaddek snapped up 4-31 to make inroads in HP's inning as they
made a solid start thanks to opener Tanzid Hasan who hammered 81 off 93 with
six fours and two sixes. Shahadat Hossain Dipu blasted 51 before Mosaddek
jolted their innings.

Rubel Hossain and Shahidul Islam picked up two wickets apiece to
complement Mosaddek's effort. The next two matches are slated for October 2
and 4. With Bangladesh leaving the country on October 3 for Twenty20 World
Cup, Mushfiqur won't play the last two matches.
