No Covid casualty in last 24 hours in Rangpur

   RANGPUR, Oct 3, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded no Covid-19 casualty during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today as the coronavirus situation continues improving during the last eight weeks.

  "Earlier, Rangpur division witnessed Covid-19 fatality-free days on May 16 last and again no deaths on September 12, 13, 14, 20, 22, 26, 29 and 30 last," Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS here today. The number of Covid-19 fatalities remained steady at 1,234 in the division where the overall Covid-19 satiation continues improving consistently.

   The district-wise break up of the 1,234 fatalities stands at 293 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 88 in Nilphamari, 67 in Lalmonirhat, 68 in Kurigram, 250 in Thakurgaon, 325 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the division.

  The average fatality rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division.

  Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,971 as 17 new patients were diagnosed after testing 567 samples of Rangpur division at the daily positivity rate of three percent on Saturday.

  Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 4.74 percent on Friday, 2.87 percent on Thursday. 2.26 percent on Wednesday, 2.30 percent on Tuesday, 2.84 percent on Monday and 4.80 percent on Sunday last in the division," Dr Zakirul said.

  The district-wise break up of total 54,971 patients include 12,400 of Rangpur, 3,763 of Panchagarh, 4,420 of Nilphamari, 2,729 of Lalmonirhat, 4,631 of Kurigram, 7,529 of Thakurgaon, 14,650 of Dinajpur and 4,849 of Gaibandha in the division.

  Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of 2,82,425 collected samples were tested till Saturday, and of them, 54,971 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.46 percent in the division.

  Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the number of recovered Covid-19 patients reached 52,085 with recovery of 260 more infected patients on Saturday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 94.75 percent.

  The 52,085 recovered patients include 10,940 of Rangpur, 3,553 Panchagarh, 4,314 Nilphamari, 2,609 Lalmonirhat, 4,511 Kurigram, 7,059 Thakurgaon, 14,313 in Dinajpur and 4,786 Gaibandha districts in the division.

  Among the 54,971 patients, 87 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 14 critical patients at ICU beds and 10 at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 52,085 patients and 1,234 deaths while 1,565 are remaining in home isolation.

  "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 38,22,516, and among them, 17,18,697 got the second dose of the jab till Saturday in the division," Dr Islam added.

   Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said everyone should sincerely abide by the health directives to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.
