3 die of Covid-19, casualties reach 1,224 in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 19, 2021 (BSS) - Three more people died of Covid-19 during
the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today raising the death toll to 1,224 in
Rangpur division.

   "The Covid-19 situation continues to improve in the last one and a half
months in the division," Focal Person of the Covid-19 and Assistant Director
(Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

  The three new casualties were reported from Rangpur, Panchagarh and
Kurigram districts in the division.

  "The district-wise breakup of the 1,224 fatalities stands at 291 in
Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 87 in Nilphamari, 66 in Lalmonirhat, 67 in
Kurigram, 248 in Thakurgaon, 322 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.

   The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division.

   Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,564 as 68 new patients
were diagnosed after testing 1,323 samples in Rangpur division at the daily
positivity rate of 5.14 percent on Saturday.

   Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 7.39 percent on Friday, 3.36
percent on Thursday, 6.29 percent on Wednesday, 6.01 percent on Tuesday, 5.50
percent on Monday and 5.43 percent on Sunday last in the division.

   "The district-wise break up of total 54,564 patients include 12,321 of
Rangpur, 3,705 Panchagarh, 4,371 of Nilphamari, 2,719 of Lalmonirhat, 4,610
of Kurigram, 7,446 of Thakurgaon, 14,560 of Dinajpur and 4,832 of Gaibandha
in the division," he added.

   Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of
2,72,908 collected samples were tested till Saturday, and of them, 54,564
were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.99 percent
in the division.

   In the meantime, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached
51,100 with recovery of 115 more infected patients on Saturday in the
division.

   The 51,110 recovered patients include 10,631 of Rangpur, 3,352 Panchagarh,
4,276 Nilphamari, 2,578 Lalmonirhat, 4,449 Kurigram, 6,882 Thakurgaon, 14,184
in Dinajpur and 4,748 Gaibandha districts in the division.

   Among the 54,564 patients, 129 are undergoing treatments at isolation
units, including 14 critical patients at ICU beds and seven at High
Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 51,110 patients and 1,224 deaths
while 2,111 are remaining in home isolation.

   "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 29,93,162, and among them, 14,19,958 got the second dose of
the jab till Saturday in the division," Dr Islam said.

   Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged
people to abide by the health directives to check further spread of the
deadly virus in the division.
