Light to moderate rain likely over country

 DHAKA, Aug 1, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am today.
 
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Chattogram division and at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” said a met office bulletin issued here.
 
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the release said.
 
The well-marked low over Bihar and adjoining area now lies over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Hariyana, centre of the well-marked low, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
 
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
 
Country’s maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 33.7-degree Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature was recorded today by 25.0 degree Celsius jointly at Hatiya and Kutubdia.
 
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 96 millimeters (mm) at Sandwip.
 
The sun sets at 6:43pm today and rises at 5:28am tomorrow in the capital.
