RAJSHAHI, July 30, 2021 (BSS) - A total of 791 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts in the division on Thursday, taking the caseload to 82,527 since the pandemic began, the health department sources said.
 
With 13 more Covid-19 related fatalities reported on the same day, the death toll climbed to 1,303 here, including 551 in Bogura, 240 in Rajshahi with 142 in its city and 138 in Chapainawabganj, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.
 
The new daily infection figure shows a little-bit triggering trend compared to the previous day's figure of 735.
 
Among the infected people, 59,001 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 705 new recoveries reported on the day.
 
A total of 11,780 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.
 
Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 19,291 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 13,350 have by now been released.
 
On the other hand, 501 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 252 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
 
Of the total positive cases, the highest 229 were detected in Rajshahi, including 167 in its city, followed by 170 in Sirajganj, 139 in Bogura, 115 in Pabna, 88 in Natore, 21 in Naogaon, 18 in Chapainawabganj and 11 in Joypurhat districts.
 
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 23,885 in Rajshahi, including 19,221 in its city, 4,956 in Chapainawabganj, 5,884 in Naogaon, 6,770 in Natore, 4,171 in Joypurhat, 18,756 in Bogura, 8,234 in Sirajganj and 9,871 in Pabna.
 
A total of 1,00,208 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
 
Of them, 89,475 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
 
Meanwhile, the surge in Covid-19 cases has been continuing in all the eight districts of the division since the beginning of the second wave making it a hotspot of the deadly virus.
