DHAKA, Nov 27, 2022 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today dismissed a leave to appeal petition of photographer Shahidul Alam against a High Court order that had scrapped a rule challenging the legality of the investigation in a case filed against him under ICT Act.

A five-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order, paving way for continuing the probe in the case.

Advocate Fida M Kamal moved the plea for Shahidul, while Attorney General AM Amin Uddin argued for the state.

The High Court on December 14, 2021, had scrapped a rule that challenged the legality of the probe in the case, making the ace photographer to file the petition against the order, with the Appellate Division.

The High Court on March 14, 2019 had stayed the proceedings of the case for three months. It had also issued the rule on that day.
