Journalist Toab Khan to be buried at Banani graveyard on Monday

DHAKA, Oct 1, 2022 (BSS) - Toab Khan, the Ekushey Padak winning veteran journalist and Editor of the Dainik Bangla, will be laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard in the city on Monday.

Following his namaz-e-janaza after Asr prayers at Gulshan Azad Masjid on Monday, he will be buried in Banani graveyard. His only daughter Tania Khan will reach Dhaka from USA on Sunday so that she could have the last glimpse of her father, said Toab's younger brother Obaidul Kabir today.


The body of Toab Khan will be taken to the offices of Dainik Bangla and News Bangla in city's Tejgaon at 10 am on Monday, where his first namaz-e-janaza will be held.


Later, the body will be kept at the Central Shaheed Minar from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm under the management of the Sammilita Sangskritik Jote so that people from all strata can pay their last tributes to him.

The body will be kept at the National Press Club from 1pm to 1.30 pm and the second namaz-e-janaza will be held there.


Then the body will be taken from the National Press Club to the deceased's residence in Gulshan. After holding another namaz-e-janaza at Gulshan Azad Masjid, this renowned personality will be laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard.

Toab Khan breathed his last around 12.40pm today at a city hospital at the age of 87.

Born on April 24, 1934 in Satkhira, the eminent journalist debuted his journalism career in 1955.

He was the former press secretary to the then Prime Minister and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman between 1973 and 1975.

Toab Khan also served as Principal Information Officer and director general of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).

He was the advisory editor of Daily Janakantha till last October from its inception.

Later, he joined as the editor of Dainik Bangla after it was published under a new shape and management.
