KHULNA, July 31, 2021 (BSS) – Khulna City Unit Awami League (AL) has chalked out  month-long programme to observe the National Mourning Day and the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman following health safety guidelines in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme was finalized  at a meeting of the city unit AL on Friday at the party office with its general secretary MDA Babul Rana in the chair.

Members of the National Committee of AL and city unit executive committee attended the meeting.

The programmes  include hoisting of the national flag,  party flag and black flag half-mast atop all  party offices, wearing of black badge, placing wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman, mourning rally, playing of the historical speech on March 7, 1971 of Bangabandhu, recitation of the holy Quran, offering special prayers at mosques, temples, churches and other places of worships   in the city for salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members on August 15.

All units of the  city , upazila   and   wards   of AL organized  discussion meetings and doa mahfil in their respective offices from August 1 to August 31.

A discussion meeting will also be held on August 17 marking the nation wide series bomb blast in 2005  , commemoration meeting will be held on August 21 marking the grisly grenade attack on Sheikh Hasina that killed 24 AL leaders including AL woman leader Ivy Rahman in 2004.

AL leaders and activists also will place wreath at the portrait of AL leader Ivy Rahman on the day.
