DHAKA, Sept 24, 2022 (BSS) - A workshop on Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2009 was held at Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Regional Center in Barishal today to encourage the concerned officials to provide accurate information to students and the stockholders.

BOU pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mahbuba Nasreen addressed the daylong workshop as the chief guest with Barishal Regional Center Director Dr Md Azizul Haque in the chair, said a press release here.

Speaking at the event, Dr Nasreen urged the BOU coordinators and officials to provide accurate information to the university students and stakeholders.

The BOU is working to make the RTI Act a success aiming at strengthening institutional transparency and accountability, she said, adding that in order to ensure sustainable development, none of the society should lag behind.

Barishal Divisional Additional Commissioner Khondaker Anwar Hossain, deputy Police Commissioner Md Nazrul Hossain, local Dainik Ajker Paribartan Editor and Publisher Kazi Miraz Mahmud spoke at the workshop as special guests.

Assistant Professor of Barishal University (BU) Law Department Suprabhat Halder and District Assistant Information Officer Lelin Bala presented different aspects of the RTI Act as resource persons.

Director (in-charge) of BOU Information and Public Relations Division Dr AFM Mesbah Uddin delivered the welcome address at the workshop attended by 30 officials of the regional and sub-regional centers of the university.
