DHAKA, Sept 13, 2022 (BSS) - Police in a drive today arrested two people with 35,000 pieces of yaba pills from the city's Badda area.

The arrested were Md Jahirul Islam, 45, and Md Belal Uddin Mridha, 55, said a press release.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Sub Inspector (SI) Md Maminul Islam firstly raided in front of the entrance of Aftabnagar Eastern Housing in the Badda Police Station area and arrested Jahirul with 2,000 pieces of yaba tablets.

Later, with the information of Jahirul, the police team raided the western side of Iron Bridge adjacent to the Aftabnagar Eastern Housing area and arrested Belal with more 33,000 pieces of yaba pills while another drug paddler named Uzzal, 35, fled the scene.

According to the release, the drive was conducted at the directive of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Gulshan Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Syed Mamun Mostafa.

A case has been filed with Badda Police Station in this connection against the three people under the 2018 Narcotics Control Act.
