DHAKA, Aug 23, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said BNP-Jamaat clique is thinking of carrying out subversive acts and sabotage in the name of movement to halt the country's development spree.

"Everyone will have to remain alert to resist conspiracy of BNP-Jamaat clique," he told a discussion on National Mourning Day at Jatiya Press Club's Abdus Salam Hall here.

AL's Labour and Manpower Affairs Sub-Committee arranged it.

Hanif said August 15, 1975 carnage and August 21, 2004 grenade attacks on AL rally are interwoven.

Military dictator Ziaur Rahman was behind the August 15 carnage while his widow Begum Khaleda Zia and son Tarique Rahman were behind August 21 attack, he mentioned.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, AL Organising Secretary Advocate Afjal Hossain, AL Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Prof Maksud Kamal, valiant freedom fighter ASM Shamsul Arefin, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Chairman Sajjadul Hassan and Bangladesh Chhatra League former President Liakat Sikder addressed it, among others.

AL Advisory Council Member Major General (Retd) Abdul Hafiz Mallik chaired it.
