
DHAKA, June 22, 2021 (BSS) - Founder of the University Press Limited
(UPL) Emeritus Publisher Mohiuddin Ahmed passed away in the city in the early
hours of today.
"My father, Publisher Emeritus Mohiuddin Ahmed breathed his last at 12:59
am this morning at the age of 77", Mohiuddin's daughter Mahrukh Mohiuddin
wrote in a Facebook post just after demise of the veteran author.
According to the post, namaz-e-janaza of the emeritus publisher was held
at Gulshan Azad mosque after Zuhr prayers today.
"He (Mohiuddin) has been a brave survivor of Parkinson's disease for
nearly 20 years, fought a strong battle with Covid and survived," Mahrukh
wrote.
Bangla Academy acting Director General and Secretary AHM Lokman expressed
profound shock and sorrow at the death of Emeritus Publisher Mohiuddin.
In condolence message, he recalled the contributions of Bangla Academy
fellow Mohiuddin towards building a book-friendly society through publishing
quality books, including Oshomapto Atmojiboni of Father of Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by the UPL.
Lokman prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep
sympathy to the bereaved family.
