Chowdhury today joined the inaugural ceremony of the Multipurpose Padma
Bridge.

The inaugural ceremony started at 10:00am at the Mawa point with Cabinet
Secretary Khandokar Anwarul Islam's welcome speech.

While talking to reporters, Siddiqui said, "The Padma Bridge is the symbol of
Bangladesh's self dignity".

"Daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done the tremendous
job with her courageous initiative and the successful completion of the
bridge was possible due to her firmness," he said.

Besides, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury demanded toll free crossing of the Padma
Bridge for ambulance while double toll for foreigners.

In reply to query about the participation of Abdul Kader Siddiqui and Dr
Zafrullah Chowdhury in the opening ceremony, AL leaders said they joined the
function with positive attitude.
