DHAKA, April 25, 2022 (BSS) - Like elsewhere across the world, Bangladesh will observe the 'World Intellectual Property Day' tomorrow.
This year, the theme of the day is 'IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future'.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued separate messages recalling the importance of the day for Bangladesh.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid said the countries in the world that are leading in innovation are the leaders of the world today.
Despite the limited resources, Bangladesh is not lagging behind in terms of creativity and the youth of the country are keeping testimony of their ability in various fields including information technology at home and abroad, he added.
To build a secure, sustainable and prosperous Bangladesh, he said, "We need to find the best way to harness the talents of our youth."
"On the eve of the celebration of 'World Intellectual Property Day', I would like to urge all the researchers, technologists, industrialists, businessmen and all concerned to come forward for the conservation of intellectual property and its proper use," he added.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the present Awami League government has taken appropriate steps to enable the entrepreneurs and innovators of large, medium and small scale industries of the country to register and preserve their rights for proper preservation of their innovative activities.
Bangladesh Patent Act, 2022 has already been passed in the National Parliament, she added.
For Bangladesh to move forward, she said, it is necessary to provide protection to the innovators of the country through proper protection of intellectual property, as well as to increase the speed of domestic industry and export trade.
She urged researchers, technologists, industrialists, businessmen and entrepreneurs to look after the intellectual property and be partners in development.
