RAJSHAHI, March 25, 2022 (BSS) - The city corporation and district administration along with different political, socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the country's Independence and National Day-2022 in a befitting manner in Rajshahi city tomorrow.
 
This year, celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day-2022 marks a special significance coupled with celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman like the previous year.
 
Sources in the district administration said the colourful celebrations will begin with heralding 31 gun salutes at police lines besides hoisting of national flags atop all the public and private buildings at dawn.
 
Wreaths will be placed at Shaheed Memorial Plaque at the collectorate building premises with the sunrise.
 
A programme of hoisting the national flag, gathering and march-past will be held at Muktijuddho Smrity Stadium at 8 am. The Divisional Commissioner will hoist the national flag and witness the march-past.
 
A discussion titled "Historic Leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Country's Development in Golden Jubilee '' will be held at Shilpakala Academy conference hall. The valiant freedom fighters will be accorded reception there.
 
Art competitions, rendering patriotic songs and poetry recitation will also be held for the school and college students on the occasion.
 
Improved diets will be served to the inmates of hospitals, prison, safe homes and orphanage centres.
 
Special prayers will be arranged at the city's mosques after Jumma prayers and different other places of worship, seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the nation.
 
In the afternoon, friendly football matches between different teams will be held at district stadium marking the day.
 
Besides, the city's important tourist spots and places like Rajshahi University Shaheed Smrity Sangrahashala, Varendra Research Museum, Central Zoo and Shishu Park will remain open for the visitors throughout the day.
