Historic March 7 celebrated amid huge enthusiasm in Rangpur

  RANGPUR, March 7, 2022 (BSS) - The historic March 7 was celebrated here

with huge enthusiasm today paying a rich homage to Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with a renewed pledge for building a
developed Sonar Bangla.

   The divisional, district and police administrations, Rapid Action
Battalion (RAB)-13, other government departments, Awami League (AL) and its
associate bodies and other organisations chalked out programs marking the
day.

   The District Shilpokola Academy, Rangpur City Corporation and different
educational institutions separately organized competitions for children and
distributed prizes among winners of the competitions marking the day.

   The celebrations began with hoisting of national flag followed by placing
of wreaths at the portrait and mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square
followed by daylong programs chalked out by the administrations, different
organizations and institutions.

   Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Deputy Inspector General
(DIG) of Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan
Police Commissioner Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud and Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib
Ahsan, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and former Rangpur
district unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad heroic freedom
fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu placed wreaths at Bangabandhu's mural in the
city.

   Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa with high officials and City
Councilors of Rangpur City Corporation placed wreaths there.

   The district administration organized the main discussion at the Town Hall
auditorium with the Deputy Commissioner in the chair.

   The Divisional Commissioner, DIG, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner
Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Superintendent of Police, heroic freedom fighters,
academics, intellectuals and civil society members addressed the discussion.

   After hoisting national and party flags and placing wreaths at the
portrait of Bangabandhu at their respective offices in the morning, leaders
of district and city units of AL and its associate bodies brought out rallies
and placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu.

   Patriotic songs were rendered and the epoch-making historic March 7 speech
delivered by Bangabandhu on this day at the then Race Course Maidan in 1971
was played throughout the day.

   District AL organised a discussion at its office with its President Mamtaz
Uddin Ahmed in the chair while its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim
Raju moderated the event.

   Joint Secretary of district AL Motahar Hossain Mondal Mowla, Organizing
Secretary Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Office Secretary Amin Sarker and
Publicity and Publication Affairs' Secretary Latifa Shawkat, President of
district Mohila AL Mortuza Mansur and its General Secretary Advocate Zakia
Sultana Choite addressed.

   President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over another discussion
moderated by its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal at city AL office
marking the historic day.

   The speakers termed the epoch-making March 7 speech of Bangabandhu as the
obvious proclamation of independence and all-time best speech that would
continue to inspire the nation from generations to generations.
