Historic 7th March celebrated in Gaibandha

 GAIBANDHA, March 7, 2022 (BSS) - The historic 7th March was observed in

the district as elsewhere of the country today in a befitting manner with a
vow to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman.

     Marking the day, the district administration chalked out elaborate
programmes.

     The day's programmes began with the hoisting of national and party flags
atop of the party office buildings and placing wreaths at the portrait of
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

     In the morning, the district administration led by deputy commissioner
(DC) Oliur Rahman, district police led by superintendent of police (SP)
Muhammad Towhidul Islam, Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, led by its
general secretary Abu Bakar Siddique and Gaibandha Municipality led by mayor
Md. Matlubour Rahman, Sadar upazila parishad led by upazila chairman Shah
Sarwar Kabir placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman of the town here in phases.

     Then, a grand rally was brought out from there and ended in front of the
DC office after parading the main roads of the town.

     The programme was followed by a discussion meeting held at the
conference room of the DC office here on the importance of the day with DC
Oliur Rahman in the chair.

     Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini
addressed the meeting as the chief guest and SP Muhammad Towhidul Islam, GS
of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique and Sadar
upazila parishad chairman Shah Sarwar Kabir and mayor of Gaibandha
Municipality MD. Matlubour Rahman also spoke at the event as the special
guests.

    The 7th March speech of Bangabandhu had a sparkling effect on the entire
population in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, and they became united under his
efficient leadership to bravely fight for liberating the motherland from
Pakistani rule, the speakers said.

     They also lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the achievement as
historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu got UNESCO recognition as the
world's documentary heritage on October 30, 2017.

     Whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said the speech of Bangabandhu is an
essential and undeniable chapter of our history and national life, the appeal
of which is immortal.

     She also urged all to follow the great ideals of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and get devoted in building "Sonar Bangla"
that he dreamt of.

     On the other hand, Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, chalked out
elaborate programmes marking the day.
