NEW DELHI, Mar 01, 2022 (BSS) - Director of Indian Institute of Technology-
Delhi (IIT-Delhi) Professor Rangan Banerjee has emphasized on forging
collaboration between IIT-Delhi and universities in Bangladesh.
During a meeting with Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran
at the institute campus on Monday, he also proposed signing of a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh's universities to explore new areas of
cooperation.
Dean of International Programme, other deans and faculties, and research
fellows of IIT-Delhi attended the meeting, according to a statement issued by
Bangladesh mission here this afternoon.
During the interactions, Professor Banerjee emphasized on enhancing the
existing academic and research linkages between the universities of the two
countries. He expressed their readiness to offer specialised masters and
short courses to cater the need of industry and various mega projects of
Bangladesh.
They expressed particular interests in technical textile, food processing,
and infrastructure sector.
The High Commissioner proposed collaboration and exchanges with the state-
of-the-art laboratories of IIT-Delhi.
He highlighted on the importance of establishing linkages between academic
research and industries, and eventually between the economies. He later
visited several laboratories of IIT-Delhi.
During his visit at the IIT-Delhi campus, the high commissioner also
interacted with the Bangladeshi students studying at the IIT-Delhi, the
statement added.
