DHAKA, Jan 28, 2022 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a total of 59 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the ongoing anti-drug drives in the capital during last 24 hours till 6am today.

According to a statement issued by DMP today, as part of the campaign, the police raided different areas under various police stations and detained 59 drug traffickers and recovered drugs from their possession from 6am of January 27 to 6 am today.

During the anti-drug drive, police seized 605 grams and 165 puria (small packet) of heroin, 18.790 kilograms and 25 puria (small packet) of cannabis (ganja), 6,572 pieces of yaba tablets and 17 bottles of phensidyle syrup from them, it said.

Police filed 45 cases against the arrestees in this connection with police stations concerned under the Narcotics Control Act.
