2-day programmes on Bangabandhu's birth centenary from tomorrow

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2021 (BSS) - A two-day special programme will begin from tomorrow at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad, marking the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Golden Jubilee of Independence.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee is going to stage the event with the title 'The Greatest Hero of our Glorious Victory'.

At the beginning of the first day's programmes, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will administer an oath to the nation.

The Prime Minister will conduct the nationwide swearing-in ceremony at around 4:30 pm.

Later, an introductory song will be performed by respected artists of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and new generation artists.

A discussion on the birth centenary and golden jubilee of the victory will be held from around 5.30pm. 

President M Abdul Hamid is scheduled to attend the discussion as the chief guest while his Indian counterpart Shri Ram Nath Kovind will be the guest of honour. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the discussion.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque and Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will deliver the speeches of good wishes while Chief Coordinator of the implementation committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury will deliver the welcome speech. 

On the occasion, Bangabandhu's younger daughter Sheikh Rehana will hand over the tribute memorial "Mujib Chironton" to the guest of honour.

The first day programmes will conclude with the one hour cultural function from 7pm to 8pm.

 Another cultural function will also be held from 5.30pm on December 17, 2021. 

Chief Coordinator of the implementation committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury told a recent media briefing that the two-day programme has been designed to reflect the country's culture, nature and environment and progress of 50 years.

 "We are passing through an extraordinary time in the history," he added.

 He said the two-day event will be held maintaining the COVID-19 health guidelines as over 3,000-3,500 invited guests from home and abroad will be present.
