GAIBANDHA, Dec 10 , 2021 (BSS)- Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam at a
function here today underscored the need for holding a free, fair and
credible Union Parishad (UP) election across the country.

  "The Election Commission has already started to make preparations for
holding an acceptable and fair UP election. The questionable election is not
desirable. To end this, the commission will do whatever is necessary to make
the upcoming Union Parishad election more acceptable," she said.

   EC Kabita Khanam came up with the comments as the chief guest while
addressing a view-exchange meeting on the forthcoming UP elections with the
chairmen candidates, election officials and concerned law enforcing agencies
at the hall room of Circuit House of the town this morning.

  Regional Election Officer of Rangpur region GM Sahatab Uddin and
Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Towhidul Islam spoke at the event as
special guests with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin in the chair.

  In order to hold a free, fair and acceptable UP election, the officials and
employees of the government would have to perform their election duties with
honesty and sincerity, she added.

  The commissioner also called upon the officials including DC, SP and
election officers to work sincerely without any criticism for the sake of a
free, fair and neutral election.

  She also suggested the candidates who will contest at the UP election to
remain neutral irrespective of party affiliation.

  Senior officials of the district administration, district election officer
Md. Abdul Mottalib and all upazila election officers of the district and
journalists attended the meeting.
