Khulna University day tomorrow
KHULNA, Nov 24, 2021 (BSS) – Students, teachers and employees of Khulna University (KU) will observe the 31st KU day tomorrow (November 25) in a befitting manner, says a KU press release today.
To observe the day, the KU authorities have chalked out different programmes on a limited scale maintaining social distance and health guidelines set by the government, due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The programme includes processions, to be paraded at Shaheed Minar, Adommya Bangla and Katka memorial premises in the campus, discussion meeting and doa mahfil at KU mosque while prayers will also be offered at KU temple. KU authority will also honour students and best discipline for their outstanding performances.
Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed administrative building, roads and main gate will be decorated with colourful lights to mark the day.
KU started its academic activities formally on November 25, 1991 with four Disciplines under two Schools with only 80 students and 30 teachers with Prof Dr. Golam Rahman as the founder Vice-Chancellor (VC), said Atiar Rahman, Acting director of Public Relations and Publication Division of KU.
Now, it has over 7,000 students, 500 teachers and around 600 officers and employees in 29 Disciplines under eight Schools and two Institutes. Besides, over 13,000 students have completed graduation, so far, over the last three decades, he added.
Meanwhile, KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Mahmud Hossain, in a message, greeted the students on the occasion of completing three decades of the university.
The VC also expressed his gratitude to Chancellor of the university and President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Education Secretary, Chairman and members of University Grant Commission(UGC) for the cooperation and support in running the university.
