95.70pc Covid-19 patients recover in Rangpur

 RANGPUR, Oct 20, 2021 (BSS) - The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients
reached 95.70 percent in Rangpur division where no casualty was reported
during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today.

     Talking to BSS, Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr Abu Md
Zakirul Islam said 33 more Covid-19 patients healed during the last period in
the division where the pandemic situation continues improving in the last two
months.

     "With this, the number of healed patients rose to 52,860 since the
beginning of the pandemic at the average recovery rate of 95.70 percent in
the division," he said.

     The 52,860 recovered patients include 11,292 of Rangpur, 3,671
Panchagarh, 4,341 of Nilphamari, 2,625 of Lalmonirhat, 4,527 of Kurigram,
7,268 of Thakurgaon, 14,350 of Dinajpur and 4,786 of Gaibandha districts in
the division.

     Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,233 as 10 fresh cases
were diagnosed after testing 391 new samples at the positivity rate of 2.56
percent on Tuesday in the division.

     Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.72 percent on
Monday, 2.42 percent on Sunday, 3.29 percent on Saturday, 5.32 percent on
Friday, 2.24 percent on Thursday and 3.14 on Wednesday last in the division.

     "The district-wise break up of total 55,233 patients include 12,445 of
Rangpur, 3,800 Panchagarh, 4,436 of Nilphamari, 2,737 of Lalmonirhat, 4,635
of Kurigram, 7,603 of Thakurgaon, 14,721 of Dinajpur and 4,856 of Gaibandha
in the division," he added.

     "Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 2,89,915
collected samples were tested till Tuesday, and of them, 55,233 were found
positive with an average positivity rate of 19.05 percent in the division,"
Dr Zakirul added.

     Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of
casualties remained steady at 1,239 as no new death was reported during the
last 24 hours from the division.

     "The district-wise break up of the 1,239 fatalities stands at 293 in
Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 88 in Nilphamari, 68 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 252 in Thakurgaon, 326 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.

     The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division.

     Among the total 55,233 Covid-19 patients, 45 are under treatments at
isolation units, including four patients at ICU and five at High Dependency
Unit beds, after recovery of 52,860 patients and 1,239 deaths while 1,089 are
remaining in home isolation.

     "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-
19 vaccine rose to 44,50,117, and among them, 21,16,787 got the second dose
of the jab till Tuesday in the division," Dr Islam said.

     Expressing satisfaction over the improving Covid-19 situation, Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of
Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged all to abide by
the health directives.
