Construction works of Sheikh Russel Engineering and Technology Institute underway

DHAKA,Oct 18, 2021 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said the
commerce ministry is setting up Sheikh Russel Institute of
General Engineering and Technology in Mirsarai in remembrance of
Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
 
The Commerce Minister said this while addressing a discussion meeting
marking 'Sheikh Russel Day' organized by the Ministry of Commerce at
the conference room of the ministry here today, said a press
release.

He said, "Sheikh Russel was the dearest child of Bangabandhu. Everyone loved
him."

"A child can never be an opponent of any political party
or individual. Killing a child is a horrible act and a heinous crime. Killers of Sheikh Russel will be condemned by all," Tipu added.

Chaired by Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, the discussion was
attended by the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Competition Commission
retired senior secretary Mofizul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of
Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute and retired senior secretary Dr Md
Zafar Uddin, Director General of National Consumer Rights Protection
Directorate Babul Kumar Saha, Vice Chairman of Export Promotion
Bureau AHM Ahsan and  Chief Controller of the Office of the Chief
Controller of Imports and Exports SK Rafiqul Islam.

Before the discussion, Tipu Munshi laid a wreath at the
portrait of Shaheed Sheikh Russel.
