RANGPUR, Oct 15, 2021 (BSS) - No Covid-19 related fatality was recorded for
the third consecutive days on Thursday in Rangpur division as the Covid-19
situation continues to improve during the last two months.
"Earlier, no Covid-19 fatality was recorded on May 16 last and on September
12, 13, 14, 20, 22, 26, 29 and 30 and October 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 13
last in the division," said Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr
Abu Md Zakirul Islam this afternoon.
The number of Covid-19 fatalities remained steady at 1,238 in the
division.
The district-wise breakup of the 1,238 fatalities currently stands at 293
in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 88 in Nilphamari, 68 each in Lalmonirhat and
Kurigram, 252 in Thakurgaon, 326 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the
division.
The average fatality rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,184 as 12 new patients
were diagnosed after testing 431 samples in Rangpur division at the daily
positivity rate of 2.24 percent on Thursday.
"The district-wise break up of total 55,184 patients include 12,435 of
Rangpur, 3,796 Panchagarh, 4,433 of Nilphamari, 2,737 of Lalmonirhat, 4,634
of Kurigram, 7,585 of Thakurgaon, 14,710 of Dinajpur and 4,854 of Gaibandha
in the division," he added.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of
2,88,271 collected samples were tested till Thursday, and of them, 55,184
were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.14 percent
in the division.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the number of healed Covid-19 patients
reached 52,698 with recovery of 20 more infected patients on Thursday in the
division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 95.50 percent.
The 52,698 recovered patients include 11,199 of Rangpur, 3,654 Panchagarh,
4,341 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,227 Thakurgaon, 14,339
in Dinajpur and 4,786 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 55,184 patients, 42 are undergoing treatments at isolation
units, including six critical patients at ICU beds and five at High
Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 52,698 patients and 1,238 deaths
while 1,206 are remaining in home isolation.
"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 42,93,943, and of them, 18,61,864 got the second dose of the
jab till Thursday in the division," he added.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said
everyone should abide by the health directives although the Covid-19
situation continues to improve.
