DHAKA, Oct 01, 2021 (BSS) - The National Productivity Day will be observed tomorrow across the country aiming to create mass awareness to raise productivity in all fields, including industrial, agricultural and service sectors.
  
The theme of the day this year is “Productivity for Irresistible Advancement”.
  
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the eve of the day, urging to increase productivity for sustainable development and growth.
   
President Md Abdul Hamid said productivity is very important for the economic development of a country. 
  
“There is no alternative to increase productivity for sustainable development and growth. On the auspicious moment of the birth centenary of the great architect of independent Bangladesh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Independence, Bangladesh is being considered as a role model of development in the world,” he said.
  
“Bangladesh is moving forward on the highway of development. In this context, I think the theme of this year's Productivity Day, ‘Productivity for Irresistible Advancement’ is well thought out and timely”, the President added.
  
“Productivity is closely related to people's daily living standard, skills in economic activities, and quality of institutional functions. To attain this, productivity has to be increased in every sector including agriculture, industry and services. The government as well as private industries and service organizations in the country have to come forward in this regard. I firmly believe that the observance of National Productivity Day will facilitate mass people realize the importance of productivity,” he further said.
  
President Md Abdul Hamid also said the government is determined to achieve Vision 2041 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, adding, “We have to increase productivity in every economic sector with a view to achieve the targets. I believe NPO will play an active role in this context.”
  
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said “I am happy to know that the National Productivity Organization (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries is going to observe the 'National Productivity Day-2021' across the country.” 
  
“The theme of the day 'Productivity for Irresistible Advancement has become time befitting. The Greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman adopted various plans to build Bangladesh as an industrially developed country. In order to strengthen the industrial sector, he nationalized most of the large industrial factories after the Independence of Bangladesh,” she said.
  
“Following the footsteps of the Father of the Nation, the Awami League government has been working to increase investment in the industrial sector, maximize productivity capacity of existing industries through proper protection and make the export-oriented industries more competitive through multifaceted expansion,” the Prime Minister added.
  
“Productivity plays a very crucial role in economic development. In a bid to build productivity as a national movement, National Productivity Day is being observed on 2 October every year and the best industries are given the 'National Productivity and
Quality Excellence Award'. In addition, 'Bangladesh National Productivity Master Plan-2021-2030' has been formulated in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). If this plan is implemented, I believe that growth of productivity will increase from 3.6 percent to 5.6 percent, which will play a very important role in our economic growth,” she further said.
  
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also said the world economy at present is in turmoil due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 
  
In this situation, “We have no choice but to increase our productivity to survive in the global competition. We are on the verge of achieving of our Vision-2021'. In addition, our government is committed to meeting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030”, she added. 

“Moreover, we have set a target of building a hunger-poverty-free prosperous-developed Golden Bangladesh by 2041 as dreamt by the Father of the Nation. To achieve these goals, increasing productivity in all sectors is vital”, she continued.
 
The Prime Minister said “I hope that the celebration of National Productivity Day will play an important role in accelerating productivity and development, and raise awareness about productivity.”
 
She wished the ‘National Productivity Day-2021' a grand success.
