DHAKA, Sept 20, 2021 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court
(SC) today scrapped an appeal, challenging a High Court (HC) verdict
declaring an appointment of 1,650 sub-assistant agriculture officers at the
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) legal.
An Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain
passed the order, clearing legal bar for those 1,650 people to join duty.
Senior lawyer Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud moved the plea before the court,
while Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Additional Attorney General Sheikh
Mohammad Morshed stood for the state.
The High Court on September 16 passed the verdict after holding hearing on
a writ filed in this regard.
The government on January 23, 2018, issued a circular for recruiting 1,650
sub-assistant agriculture officers and released the result of recruitment
test on January 17, 2020. But many candidates, who failed in viva, first
lodged complaints with Agriculture Secretary and DAE director general and
later filed writ with the High Court.
