ADC puts emphasis on collective efforts over climate issue

DHAKA, Sept 9, 2021 (BSS) - Chair of ASEAN Dhaka Committee (ADC), Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haznah Md Hashim today said role of the governments are critical towards finding a sustainable solution to the climate change issues.
 
In this regard, she said collective efforts in not just ASEAN but also countries like Bangladesh are needed to ensure governments meet its obligation under the Paris Agreement.   
 
She made the remark while chaired a webinar on climate change, organised by the ADC, a Malaysian High Commission press release said here today.    
 
This program was initiated by the High Commission of Malaysia to explore ideas and views as well as sharing of best practices on climate change as global warming has all over the world, particularly those from the emerging economies
 
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water, Malaysia Dr. ZainiUjang and Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Bangladesh Md. Mostafa Kamal were present as the chief guests.
 
Head of missions of seven other ASEAN countries - Brunei, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam also joined the discussion.  
 
The ADC was established in the year 2014 and is comprised of eight ASEAN Missions based in Dhaka.
 
The ADC chair is rotated every six months and is currently being chaired by Malaysia.
