RANGPUR, Jan 31, 2023 (BSS) – Dr. Wazed Smriti Sangshad (DWSS) has taken two-day programs to celebrate the 81st birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband and noted nuclear scientist Dr. M A Wazed Miah on February 16 next.
 
The programs were finalized at a meeting held at the temporary office of the organization at Rangpur Press Club Complex here last night, said a press release.
 
President of DWSS, noted educationist and heroic freedom fighter Professor Dr. Md. Hamidul Haque Khondker presided over the meeting moderated by its General Secretary and senior journalist Saiful Islam Zahangir.
 
DWSS executive committee members Advocate Feroz Chowdhury Gunjan, Farukuzzaman Elahi Faruk, Advocate Md. Sajjadur Zaman (Sanju), Tanvir Ashrafi, Ali Johur Mantu, Tahmina Sharmin Nipa, Shafiqul Islam, Belal Hossain, Prashant Mowlik Mona, Utpal Bhowmick, Alhaj Mossarraf Hossain, Dulal Bhowmick and Masud Raihan Lam addressed the meeting.
 
The finalised programs include competitions on drawing, descent handwriting, poem recitation and patriotic song for schoolchildren and adolescents to be arranged at 2 pm on the Town Hall premises in Rangpur city on February 15 (Wednesday) next.
 
On February 16 (Thursday), leaders of the DWSS will place wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed Miah, arrange Ziarat, offer Fateha and special munajats at 9 am in his birthplace village of Laldighee Fatehpur in Pirganj upazila of the district.
 
Milad and doa mehfils will be arranged and special munajats be offered at different mosques in Rangpur city after Asr prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr Wazed and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and their other family members.
 
A discussion on the life and deeds of nuclear scientist Dr Wazed will be arranged at Town Hall auditorium at 7 pm on February 16 and prizes will be distributed among winners of different competitions.
 
President of DWSS and noted educationist Professor Dr. Md. Hamidul Haque Khondker will preside over the function.
 
Academics, intellectuals and civil society members will take part in the discussion on Dr. Wazed’s life, works, personality and excellent character, selfless services to the nation, patriotism, unparalleled talent and human qualities.
