25 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine arrive tonight

   DHAKA, Sept 27, 2021 (BSS) - A total of 25 lakh doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine will arrive 1.30am tonight at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from the USA under COVAX facilities.

  Officials of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and other relevant organizations will receive the consignment of the vaccine at the airport, an official release said today. 

  The first consignment of 100,620 doses of Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine under COVAX scheme arrived in Bangladesh on May 31, this year while on September 1, Bangladesh got 10 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine. 

  After arrival of 25 lakh shots of the vaccine, the total number of Pfizer vaccine will stand at 36,0,4,480, the press release added. 

  On May 27, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) approved emergency use of Pfizer mRNA Covid-19 vaccine in the country. 

  Till to date, Bangladesh has collected 4,94,29,940 doses of vaccines, the DGHS sources said. 

  Bangladesh has so far approved eight COVID-19 vaccines to control the deadly disease.

   The approved COVID-19 vaccines are from Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, CoronaVac, Pfizer, Covishield, Sputnik V, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.
