President to attend Victory Day parade tomorrow 

 
DHAKA, Dec 15, 2022 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid will attend the parade at the National Parade Ground marking the 52nd Victory Day. 
 
The President, also supreme commander of the armed forces division, will take salute and inspect the parade on the occasion, President's press secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS. 
 
Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Coast Guard, Ansar, paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) will take part in the parade. 
 
The Head of the State and other invited guests will witness armoury acquisitions of different regiments and contingents of the armed forces, a spectacular fly-past conducted by army aviation, helicopters of anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), navy aviation, parachute landing by army paratroopers and the air force of Bangladesh. 
 
Earlier, on his arrival at the parade venue at about 10:30 am, Abdul Hamid is scheduled to receive by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, parliament members and the chiefs of the three services and senior officers of armed forces division, according to programme schedule.
 
Earlier in the morning, President Hamid will pay glowing tributes to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War by placing wreath at the National Memorial in Savar on the outskirts of the capital on the occasion.
 
The President is scheduled to place the wreath at the altar of the National Memorial at about 6:30 am followed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
 
Fifty two years back, the country achieved victory through the nine-month War of Liberation against Pakistani occupation forces on this day. 
 
On this day in 1971, the Pakistani military conceded defeat to the allied forces and commanding officer of Pakistani forces general A A K Niazi surrendered arms with all members of his forces.
