RANGPUR, Aug 1, 2022 (BSS) - As the nation observes the Month of Mourning, freedom fighters and eminent figures of Rangpur region believe the trial of Bangabandhu's killers frustrated anti-Bangladesh conspirators foiling their evil design of reversing independence.

Talking to BSS, former Rangpur district unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad and heroic freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu remembered the painful memories while expressing reaction on Bangabandhu's assassination on August 15, 1975.

Terming assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members as a deep-rooted conspiracy, he said the delayed trial of Bangabandhu murder has frustrated defeated anti-liberation forces of 1971 and foiled their evil design. Bablu, however, expressed happiness saying that Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership made it possible to hold the trial of Bangabandhu's killers and the 1971 war criminals on this soil.

"Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are inseparable and without Bangabandhu, we would have never got independence," he said, adding that Bangabandhu just engaged himself in rebuilding the war-torn nation when he was assassinated at that time.

Heroic freedom fighter Shawkat Ali Sarker, who was awarded gallantry Bir Bikram for his 1971 battle field role, said perpetrators of Bangabandhu's assassination wanted to bury the spirit of the War of Liberation in a bid to revive Pakistan.

Also incumbent chairman of Chilmari upazila parishad in Kurigram, Sarkar said he believed the trial largely upset the conspirators and expected that the fugitive convicted assassins to be exposed to gallows in near future as some of them were already hanged.

Assassination of Bangabandhu is an irreparable loss for the nation though the vested quarters completely failed to realize their deep-rooted conspiracy of turning the just-liberated Bangladesh into Pakistan.

"Bangladesh is now moving forward on the highway of development to become a developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu under the farsighted leadership of his able daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.

Former Kurigram district unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad heroic freedom fighter Sirajul Islam Tuku said pro-Pakistani killers took control of state power after assassinating Bangabandhu and terrified people putting many freedom fighters and politicians into jail.

"Bangladesh has already achieved the status of a developing nation on its way to become a developed country by 2041, taking proper revenge of Bangabandhu's assassination," Tuku added.

Heroic freedom fighter Bangka Bihari Roy of Nilphamari said the anti-liberation forces did not stop their evil design after killing Bangabandhu, but are still hatching conspiracies both at home and abroad to turn Bangladesh into a failed state. Bangladesh was born because of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and our country would have become a developed one long ago if Bangabandhu was alive.

"The brave people of our soil never bowed down to the assassins and brought out processions at many places to protest the killing of Bangabandhu despite the conspirators creating a suffocating situation," Roy added.

An eminent civil society figure in Rangpur Professor Mozammel Hossain said the news of Bangabandhu's predawn murder along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975 actually puzzled the nation. "The murder was definitely aimed to overturning independence.

The same quarter is still hatching conspiracy to hinder the country's development under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he said. Hossain expressed satisfaction over farsighted and able leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in initiating trial of the killers of Bangabandhu and war criminals and their executions on our independent soil.

General Secretary of Rangpur unit of Ghatok-Dalal Nirmul Committee Moazzem Hossain Lablu said the deep-rooted conspiracy to reverse independence and spirit of War of Liberation through assassination of Bangabandhu has finally failed.

The anti-liberation conspirators assassinated Bangabandhu, the most popular world leader of all of the time, stunning the nation and the whole world community. The perpetrators wanted to bury the spirit of the War of Liberation in a bid to revive Pakistan through killing the architect of Independence Bangabandhu and most of his family members.

"But, the nation have foiled conspiracies and completed trial of the killers of Bangabandhu, executed most of them and the process of bringing back the absconding killers home for execution continues to free the country from the enemies," Lablu added.
