DHAKA, Aug 10, 2021 (BSS)-There is no specific threats centering the National Mourning Day on August 15, as militants’ networks have been destroyed, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

“The government took ‘zero tolerance’ stand against all sorts of crimes, including militancy and terrorism, and demolished their networks across the country,” he told BSS today.

Kamal, also a veteran freedom fighter, said this year the nation will observe the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day.

“No criminal would be spared . . . stern actions will be taken if anyone tries to create anarchy in the country,” he said, adding that militancy is now under control and about to be eliminated from the country.

“However, special security measures have been taken in the country for peaceful observance of the month of mourning,” the home minister said.

“Our law enforcement agencies, especially the elite force RAB and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police can face any kind of challenge as they are now more capable and efficient,” he added.

“The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly with firm determination to establish a crime and militancy-free society,” he said.

“The law enforcement agencies have destroyed militants’ dens and their networks across the country. Now police and intelligence agencies are on high alert in dealing with any untoward situation for safety and security of the people,” Kamal said.

He also said that the anti-militant operations are going on and will continue in the future as well. “Not only conducting anti-militant operations, the law enforcers have launched anti-militancy campaigns across the country,” he added.

Terming the existence of any alien militants in the country as untrue, he said there are home grown militants and they expose themselves in different identities. “Their motive is to make the country unstable . . . sometimes they were identified as Jamaat-ul-Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB), sometimes as Neo-JMB and even Ansarullah Bangla Team,” Kamal said.

Militants, perpetrators, plotters, rumour spreaders, troublemakers and religious fanatics would be dealt with an iron hand, he added.

The home minister said surveillance and monitoring have already been beefed up to stop crimes during the month of mourning.
