Durga Puja being celebrated with festivity in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Oct 3, 2022 (BSS) - Durga Puja, the five-day long biggest
religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community, is being celebrated here
with traditional enthusiasm and due religious fervor.

District Puja Celebration Committee (DPCC) office sources said the puja is
being held at 524 puja mandaps in the district.

Meanwhile, the government allocated 262 tonnes of rice as special assistance
for the 524 puja mandaps to assist the Hindu community for celebrating the
festival, district relief officer Mohammad Ruhul Amin said.

District administration and district police authority have already taken
fool-proof safety measures for ensuring security of the worshippers and
peaceful celebration of the religious rituals without any problem or untoward
incident, district administration sources said.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Netrakona Anjana Khan Mojlish and superintendent of
police (SP) Mohammad Foyaz Ahmed today visited different puja mandaps in and
around the district town to oversee the security arrangements and law and
order situation.

The DC and SP also exchanged puja greetings with the Hindu community members
and leaders of DPCC around the puja mandaps.   

This BSS correspondent, while visiting different puja mandaps in around the
district town, saw that a large number of worshippers and visitors were seen
visiting the puja mandaps to have a look at the Goddess Durga and seek her
divine blessings for their welfare and betterment of the mankind.

The puja festival will end with celebration of Bijoya Dashami and immersion
of the idols of the Goddess Durga and other deities in different water-bodies
including the river Mogra here on Wednesday, chief advisor of DPCC NIrmol
Kumar Das told BSS.
