RANGPUR, July 31, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 44.57 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 164 fresh cases were reported after testing 368 newly collected samples of all eight districts in the division today.
“The Covid-19 positivity rate continues showing a rising trend now after remaining mostly steady below the 30 percent mark in recent weeks,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 26.36 percent on Friday, 26.87 percent on Thursday, 28.63 percent on Wednesday, 28.02 percent on Tuesday, 26.92 percent on Monday and 27.36 percent on Sunday last in the division.
Among the 164 new patients, 112 were reported positive after diagnosing 180 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 62.22 percent today.
“The 112 new patients include 79 from Rangpur, 16 from Kurigram, seven from Gaibandha and 10 from Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.
On the other hand, 52 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 27.13 percent today.
“The 52 new Covid-19 infected patients include 32 from Dinajpur, 10 from Thakurgaon, three Panchagarh and seven from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 44,337 as 164 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break up of total 44,337 patients stands at 9,884 in Rangpur, 2,696 in Panchagarh, 3,544 in Nilphamari, 2,225 in Lalmonirhat, 3,488 in Kurigram, 6,042 in Thakurgaon, 12,651 in Dinajpur and 3,807 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
