RANGPUR, July 30, 2021 (BSS) – The daily Covid-19 positivity rate jumped to 47.59 percent in Rangpur division where 168 fresh cases were reported after testing 353 newly collected samples today.
“The Covid-19 positivity rate suddenly climbed to 47.59 percent today after remaining mostly steady below the 30 percent mark in recent days in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 26.87 percent on Thursday, 28.63 percent on Wednesday, 28.02 percent on Tuesday, 26.92 percent on Monday, 27.36 percent on Sunday and 27.38 percent on Saturday last in the division.
Among the 168 new patients, 114 were reported positive after diagnosing 165 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 69.09 percent today.
“The 114 new patients include 57 from Rangpur, 23 from Kurigram, 16 from Gaibandha and 18 from Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.
On the other hand, 54 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 28.72 percent today.
“The 54 new Covid-19 infected patients include 35 from Dinajpur, 11 from Thakurgaon, one Panchagarh and seven from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 44,108 as 168 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break up of total 44,108 patients stands at 9,784 in Rangpur, 2,694 in Panchagarh, 3,530 in Nilphamari, 2,210 in Lalmonirhat, 3,448 in Kurigram, 6,027 in Thakurgaon, 12,618 in Dinajpur and 3,796 in Gaibandha of the division.
