KHULNA, Sept 15, 2022 (BSS) - A total of three candidates have submitted
nomination papers to the Khulna Returning officer for the chairman post of
Khulna Zila Parishad today (Thursday).
 
They are Awami League-backed chairman aspirant Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid and two
independent candidates Mortoza Rashidi Dara and Dr Sheikh Baharul Alam.
 
Returning Officer, who is also deputy commissioner of Khulna, Md Moniruzzaman
Talukder told BSS, "We have received three nomination papers for the chairman
post of the Zila Parishad today.
"We have also received 34 nomination papers for the nine-member posts and 15
for three women reserved seats for the upcoming Zila Parishad polls," he
said.
 
The election to 61 district councils (Zila Parishads) will be held on October
17.
 
As per the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is
September 15, while the date for scrutinizing nomination papers is September
18 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is September 25.
