11 pirates held with firearms in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 10, 2022 (BSS)- Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in

a 48-hour long drive, arrested 11 pirates from the deep sea and Banshkhali
upazila of the district for involving with a robbery of 16 fishing boats in
the Bay of Bengal recently.

Commander of RAB-7 Lieutenant Colonel MA Yusuf confirmed the information to
the journalist on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted the 48-hour long
drive on the deep sea and Banshkhali upazila from Friday and nabbed the
pirates, the RAB official said.

During the raid, 11 pirates, directly involved in the robbery, have been
arrested. The RAB members also recovered a large amount of firearms and local
weapons, more than 3,000 pieces of stolen Hilsa fish, a large amount of
fishing nets and a boat, used in the robbery.

The arrested were handed over to the Banshkhali Police Station for taking
legal action, he added.
