213 fined for defying lockdown in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, July 28, 2021 (BSS) – Separate mobile courts of the district administration have fined 213 people Taka 1,61,640 in seven upazilas, including the district headquarters, for breaching Covid-19 safety rules and violating the rules of the ongoing countrywide strict lockdown to prevent coronavirus infection.

According to the district administration sources, separate teams conducted the raids in seven upazilas, including the district town, and fined 213 people Taka 1,61,640 for not wearing masks, not maintaining social distance, violating the rules of the ongoing countrywide strict lockdown and moving outside without any reason.

Executive magistrate of the district administration Enamul Hasan and upazila executive magistrate, assistant commissioner (land) and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the seven upazilas led the operation teams from morning to 9.30 pm on Tuesday.

The mobile courts also distributed masks free of cost among the poor and helpless people.

Executive magistrate Enamul Hasan told BSS that the government has announced a strict lockdown across the country to prevent corona infection.

We are working in the field since morning, taking legal action against those who disobeyed government laws without urgency, leaving the house without any reason and driving transport, pickup vans, motorbikes, and keeping shops and businesses establishments open, he said.

The mobile court will continue to prevent anti-lockdown activities, he added.
