CHATTOGRAM, July 25, 2022 (BSS) - A Chattogram court today awarded life- term
imprisonment to four people for killing a man at Adhunagar union under
Lohagara upazila of the district.
Third Additional District and Sessions Judge Ferdouse Wahid delivered the
verdict on Monday in presence of the four accused.
The convicts are Nurul Islam, his son Osman Gani, Sarwar Kamal and Abbas
Uddin, hailed from Adhunagar union under Lohagara upazila.
The acquitted are Nurul Islam's wife Monoara Begum and her daughter Nashim
Akhter.
The victim Nurul Kabir is the younger brother of Nurul Islam, one of the
convicts.
The court also fined each convict Taka 20,000, in default, to suffer four
months more in jail.
The prosecution story, in brief, Nurul Islam and his three sons beaten to
death Nurul Kabir in the area over previous enmity around 3 pm on December 6
in 1999.
Khaleda Yesmin, wife of victim Nurul Islam, filed a murder case with Lohagara
Police Station against six people.
Police submitted charge-sheet on December 21 in 2002 against the six people
while the court framed charges against them on January 13, 2003.
The court pronounced the verdict today after examining 17 prosecution
witnesses out of 22 and awarded the judgement.
They have been sent to jail after announcing the verdict.
