KHULNA, June 6, 2022(BSS) - A court here today sentenced a son for life term Imprisonment in a case of killing his father in Khulna in 2017.

The convict’s name is Prashanta Biswas, son of Prafulla Biswas, a resident of Pithavog village under Rupsha Upazila in the district.

Judge of the Additional District and Session Court Tasnim Zohra pronounced the verdict in presence of convicted accused. The court also fined Taka 10,000, in default, he will have to suffer more two months of imprisonment.

Court sources said, son Prashanta Biswas used to demand to his parents to get married immediately and consequently threatened, if they failed, he will kill his father.

Prafulla Biswas, a farmer and a religious folk singer of the village, also the father of two sons, passed his days with very hardship as his sons did not help him financially to run his family.
His elder son Prashanta, a tailor, physically and mentally tortured his parents to meet his demand to get married since long.

Following a family feud, Prashanta’s mother went to her brother’s house at the neighbouring village on January 16 in 2017.

Suvadra Biswas, a neighbor, witnessed the slaughtered body of Prafulla at his residence premises while she went to light a candle as part of her evening prayers on the next day.

Shusanta, younger son of Prafulla, also an NGO worker, filed a murder case with Rupsha Police Station accusing his elder brother.

    
Prashanta left the country and hiding in India after the killing of his father but returned to the country after repenting for his father after three months and later surrendered to the police. He also confessed his guilt before a court involving him for killing his father.

On October 12, in 2017, Mahfuzul Haque, Inspector of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and also the Investigation Officer of the case, pressed charge sheet to court accusing lone accused Prashanta into the case.
