CHATTOGRAM, April 27, 2022 (BSS)- A Chattogram court here today awarded life-

term imprisonment to a man for killing his wife in 2015.

 The court of Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge Sheikh Asfakur Rahman
delivered the judgment today convicting victim's husband Md Abdus Sattar,
hailed from Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla district.

The court also fined him Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more
in jail.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convict Abdus Sattar
strangulated to death his wife Shaheda Akter, 19, in an altercation over a
family feud at his rented residence at Shadek Colony of Tankir Pahar in
City's Lalkhan Bazar area on August 4 in 2015.

On the day, police recovered the victim's body from her rented residence and
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Khulshi thana Md Shamsur Rahman filed a murder case
with the concerned thana against Shaheda's husband Abdus Sattar.

Police submitted charge-sheet on October 28 in 2015 while the judge framed
charges against him on August 4 in 2016.

The court today, after examining 12 prosecution witnesses out of 17, awarded
the judgement in presence of Abdus Sattar.
