2 killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight

COX’S BAZAR, July 16, 2021 (BSS) - Two suspected criminals have been killed in separate gunfights with law enforcers here.  
 
On secret information, a team of RAB conducted an operation at Damdamia this morning, said Lieutenant Mahbubur Rahman, RAB-15 Teknaf Camp Commander.
 
But, sensing the presence of the RAB the robbers fired gunshots at them ensuing a gun battle, he added.
 
Later, two local and foreign weapons and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
The RAB personnel rescued Hasemullah, 33, head of 'Hashem Bahini' in a critically injured state. He was taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where he died.
Hasemullah was accused of a number of cases, including murder.
 
Cox’s Bazar BGB-34 captain Ali Haider Azad Ahmed said members of the Palangkhali-BOP came to know that some Yaba traders could enter Bangladesh from Myanmar with a Yaba consignment on Thursday night.
 
When BGB team conducted an operation at Palangkhali, a gang of smugglers opened fire at them forcing the BGB personnel to take retaliation, leaving Mohammad Lutfar Rahman Prakash Manik injured.
 
He was taken to Ukhia Upazila Health Complex where he died.
