802 more test positive for Covid-19 in Ctg

  CHATTOGRAM, July 16, 2021 (BSS) - A total of 802 more people were tested
positive for Covid-19 in Chattogram district in the last 24 hours.   

  Health officials said the number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to
69,357 as 802 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing
2,547 samples with the daily infection rate of 31.49 percent on Thursday in
the district.  

  "The infection rate is showing a quick rising trend again and recovery rate
is declining continuously in the district in recent weeks," Focal Person of
COVID-19 Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.    

  Among the newly detected patients, 452 are from Chattogram city and 350
from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.  

  With the nine death on Thursday, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19)
deaths in Chattogram reached 819, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.

   Among the reported fatalities, 512 were the residents of the port city and
the rest 207 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.  

  Civil surgeon told BSS that among the total infected persons, 52,875 are
the residents of the city and the rest 16,482 are residents of different
upazilas of the district.  

  "The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached
51,949 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 245 more patients on
Monday," Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at
73.95.  

  A total of 7,130 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
