RAJSHAHI, Jan 21, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 475 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the division on Thursday, taking the caseload to 1,02,094 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.
The new positive cases are showing a little bit of an escalation compared to the previous day's figure of 468, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health.
Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,964 in the division after 154 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.
The death toll remained steady at 1,695, including 688 in Bogura, 327 in Rajshahi with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.
Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 23,483 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine.
Of them, 20,126 have been released. Meanwhile, 297 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 78 others were released from isolation during the same time.
Of the 475 new cases, 160 were detected in Rajshahi, including 159 in its city, followed by 111 in Bogura, 82 in Pabna, 54 in Sirajganj, 29 in Naogaon, 16 in Natore, 13 in Chapainawabganj and 10 in Joypurhat districts.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 29,132 in Rajshahi, including 23,674 in its city, 5,719 in Chapainawabganj, 6,631 in Naogaon, 8,571 in Natore, 4,861 in Joypurhat, 22,395 in Bogura, 11,608 in Sirajganj and 13,177 in Pabna.
A total of 1,16,807 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus. Of them, 1,14,686 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their quarantine period.
