Rangpur records 13.50pc Covid-19 positivity Saturday

  RANGPUR, Jan 15, 2022 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 13.50 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 13 fresh cases were reported after testing 113 new samples at two laboratories on Saturday. 

  Health officials said the daily passivity rate marked a rising trend in the past few days, deteriorating the pandemic situation that continued to improve during the last four months in the division.

  Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 8.11 percent on Friday, 13.66 percent on Thursday, 10.84 percent on Wednesday, 4.11 percent on Tuesday and 13.50 percent on Sunday last in the division.

  The 13 new patients were reported positive after testing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at 13.83 percent positivity rate today.

  "All 16 new patients are hailing from different areas of Dinajpur district alone," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.

  "Meanwhile, none was reported positive after testing 19 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) today, "said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.

  Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,922 as 13 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

  The district-wise break up of total 55,922 patients include 12,622 of Rangpur, 3,838 Panchagarh, 4,469 of Nilphamari, 2,775 of Lalmonirhat, 4,653 of Kurigram, 7,710 of Thakurgaon, 14,967 of Dinajpur and 4,888 of Gaibandha in the division.
