MANIKGANJ, Dec 01, 20 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced one person to
death and four others life-term imprisonment for killing a youth in Saturia
upazila of the district in 2006.

   Additional District Judge Utpol Bhattacharjee pronounced the verdict in
the afternoon against Shahin Alam, 25, son of late Ahsan uddin of Goaripara
area under Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district. The life-term convicted are
Shahed, 25, son of Shahidul Islam, Raja Mia, 25, son of Hazrat Ali, Abdul
Kuddus, son of Shamsul Huque Bepari and Bishnu swiper, son of Mihir Lal. All
are the inhabitants of Baniapara under Ghatail upazila of Tangail district.

  According to the prosecution, the victim Shahid, 27, son of Khoda Box
Akonda of village Baniapara under Ghatail upazila of Tangail district was
killed at its office in Betulia area of Dighalia union under Saturia upazila
of the district on May, 20, 2006.
