Covid-19: three-lakh collected samples tested in Rangpur

  RANGPUR, Nov 30, 2021 (BSS) - A total of 3,00,063 collected samples of
suspected Covid-19 patients of all eight districts in Rangpur division have
so far been tested since the outbreak of the pandemic.

     "After testing 3,00,063 samples, a total of 55,560 Covid-19 positive
cases have been diagnosed at the average positivity rate of 18.52 percent,"
Acting Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS
today.

     Among the total 55,560 positive cases, six new patients were diagnosed
after testing 232 samples at the positivity rate of 2.59 percent on Monday in
the division where the pandemic situation continues improving during the last
three months.

    Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 1.84 percent on Sunday,
5.49 percent on Saturday, 1.75 percent on Friday, 3.03 percent on Thursday
and 2.44 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

     "The district-wise break up of total 55,560 patients include 12,507 of
Rangpur, 3,823 Panchagarh, 4,460 of Nilphamari, 2,748 of Lalmonirhat, 4,646
of Kurigram, 7,663 of Thakurgaon, 14,844 of Dinajpur and 4,869 of Gaibandha
in the division," he said.

     Meanwhile, no Covid-19 patient died during the last 24 hours ending at 8
am today in the division where the total number of casualties remained steady
at 1,245.

     The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division

     The district-wise break up of the 1,245 fatalities stands at 293 in
Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 68 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 254 in Thakurgaon, 328 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the
division.

     Meanwhile, the number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 53,433 with
recovery of 24 more patients on Monday in the division where the average
recovery rate currently stands at 96.17 percent.

      The 53,433 recovered patients include 11,620 of Rangpur, 3,686
Panchagarh, 4,363 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,365
Thakurgaon, 14,452 in Dinajpur and 4,795 Gaibandha districts in the division.

     Among the 55,560 patients, 36 are under treatments at isolation units,
including nine critical patients at ICU beds and six at High Dependency Unit
beds, after recovery of 53,433 patients and 1,245 deaths while 846 are
remaining in home isolation.

     "In the meantime, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the
Covid-19 vaccine rose to 69,27,306, and among them, 38,52,124 got the second
dose of the jab till Monday in the division," Dr Islam added.

     Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi said the
Covid-19 situation is improving consistently in the last three months.

     "However, people should abide by the health directives to prevent
another probable wave of the newly detected Omicron strain of Covid-19 in
different African and European countries," he added.
