RANGPUR, Oct 17, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 6.38 percent
Covid-19 positivity rate as seven fresh cases were reported after
testing 222 new samples in the division on Sunday.
Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues to improve
amid declining positivity and casualty rates and rising recovery rate
during the last two months in the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 3.29 percent on
Saturday, 5.32 percent on Friday, 2.24 percent on Thursday, 3.14 on
Wednesday, 3.67 percent on Tuesday and 2.16 percent on Monday last in
the division.
Among the seven new patients, four were reported positive after
diagnosing 128 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur
Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur at the daily positivity rate of 3.13
percent today.
“The four new Covid-19 patients include three from Rangpur and one
from Dinajpur district,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi
Lyzu told BSS at 6:30 pm.
On the other hand, three new patients were reported after diagnosing
94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 3.19 percent
today.
“The three new Covid-19 infected patients include one from Dinajpur
and two from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr
Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam
said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,209 as seven new
positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break-up of total 55,209 patients include 12,443 of
Rangpur, 3,799 Panchagarh, 4,434 of Nilphamari, 2,737 of Lalmonirhat,
4,635 of Kurigram, 7,591 of Thakurgaon, 14,716 of Dinajpur and 4,854
of Gaibandha in the division.
