CHATTOGRAM, Oct 15, 2021 (BSS) – Idols of Goddess Durga were immersed
peacefully in the city and district today after a five-day colorful
and joyous Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu
community.
Immersions were held in city’s Patenga and Khalurghat sea beach areas
in the afternoon with presence of a large number of people of the
community and with the help of police.
Earlier, hundreds of Hindu devotees attired in their best dresses and
wearing masks thronged in different puja mandaps, including J M Sen
Hall and Chatteshary Temple, in the city since morning to bid farewell
to Goddess Durga and seek blessings.
They uttered ‘Shuva Bijoya’ and exchanged greetings with one another.
This year, as many as 270 puja mandaps were erected in the city and
1964 in 15 upazilas of the district, police said.
